[HOLDING BACK LAUGHTER.]

[She stuffs her face in his chest.]

Don't look at me.

[No he can't help but laugh and he kisses the top of her head.]

You hold on to that yourself.

Don't look at me, don't talk to me, just pretend I don't exist. Forever. [She refuses to lift her head off his chest.]

It's hard to do that with you lying on my entire body.

[Well if he's going to be that way. She rolls off of him and onto the floor. She has rolled off her couch many times and she's good at catching herself so it doesn't hurt. She will just lay on her back and cover her face in her hands.]

[Oh no he follows her, rolling off the couch, carefully aiming so his legs end up on either side of her so he doesn't hurt her, and he leans down, supporting himself with his elbows.]

Anais. An-nuh-eeeeeeeeeeeees.

[He will kiss her from over her hands until she looks up.]

[She peeks between her fingers at him.]

[He smiles at her sweetly. Then mischievously.

And he leans down to kiss her jaw below her hands and kisses down to her neck again.]

[She squeaks because he has her on a roll now. A roll of embarrassment.]

You're awful.

[anequal]

I like you a lot, you know that, right?

[He will sit up. He'll also take her wrists and tug her up with him, letting go only to hold her by her shoulders and smile at her, sweetly, again.]

Because I do. And it's only been like five months, but a lot of stuff happened and I want to do a lot of things. For you. With you. You know?

Well you almost die protecting me a lot. So I think it might be one of those things where you only like me because otherwise you almost died saving somebody useless to you.

[But she leans in and kisses him.] I want to, too.

When you meet someone by almost dying for them, it leaves an impression. You called me contagious for ages after that but I kept coming back to you because it's not like I can forget. We got each other into this whole numbers ordeal.

But you're cute.

[A kiss in return.]

And you're fun to hang around. [A kiss on her cheek.] You smell nice. [On her other cheek.] And you became a really cool friend to have. [Her forehead.] And right now, I feel like -- I saw you cry about your magic. I saw you cry after the Snake. And I don't want to see it. And I could just walk away, but I don't like leaving you knowing you'll cry. I just don't like you crying.

[He returns to kiss her on her mouth again.] You smile when you're around me so I want to stick around.

[Her blush builds the whole time he talks. And she wants to shut off because sincerity is scary, but she won't. She won't let herself this time. She wraps her arms around him and returns his kisses, gently, carefully.]

I'll try not to cry anymore. But I don't promise anything about smiling. [She tugs on him to lie back again because the way they're sitting is kind of weird.] But I'll try to do it for you, if you promise to stay with me. Because I think I'm starting to need you, now. It's lonely when you're not here.

[anequal]

[He shakes his head. He lets her pull him down, though.] You can cry.

You can cry all you need to, and I'll be with you when you do so you can cry and not worry about defending yourself. When you're crying, I'll keep watch so you'll be okay. And I won't judge that you're crying because we all cry.

[He takes her hand in his. Links their fingers together.] I'll stay with you.

I've never seen you cry before. [Not that she really wants to. She holds onto his hands very tightly.]

I don't cry a lot. I sort of teared up when Marzio forgot everything though.

[phoenix_temple]

You were really upset that day... [She leans up to kiss him again. She didn't like it. She didn't like being scared--or, worse, the idea that he was just as scared as she was.]

[anequal]

We went through a lot of shit together. Not anything really shitty, but -- anyway. [He accepts the kiss. He likes kissing her. He rolls over to lie next to her so it's easier for both of them.]

I feel okay as long as you're around. So I'll stick around you.

[phoenix_temple]

I feel okay when you're here, too. [Lying next to him makes it easier to snuggle into his chest.] I feel safe. I don't want you to ever go away, so--

I think I meant it. That day you brought me home. [... Maybe. If not it's the closest thing she'll probably ever feel to it.]

I have no idea what love is. [It's the first time he's addressed it since that night.]

But right now, doing stuff like this is great. I like it. I visit here every day and it's like, my favorite thing to do?

And I like being around you, and I feel a lot of things around you. Maybe it's good enough, for us, now?
