I'm here tonight because your mom invited me, but I'm not inviting you next week because of her.

[He nods firmly.] A date date.

Oh. Um. [This is the most romantic way to start things, clearly.] Sure. If you want.

[He stares at her for a good five seconds.

Then puts his hands on her shoulders.] I do. Because I'm inviting you. And you?

[She's just bad at people Anthony, calm yourself.] I said yes, didn't I?

[He stares at her some more. But eventually looks satisfied and nods.]

Next week. I'll pick you up at your dad's place. I can't drive though so I think we'll have to take the bus.

I can meet you there--my dad's not exactly close to here. He's almost in the suburbs...

I will have you know I have traveled that far by bike but if you want to...

Well, you'd have to come all the way out on the bus by yourself before you even got there. It'd take forever.

I don't think I'd mind forever.

You'll have to take the [bus] to [stop] to get there.

[He nods, noting that mentally.] After lunch? Before lunch?

Before lunch. My dad's only ever around the house around dinnertime. He'll get upset if I miss him.

[He nods.] Before lunch. We'll eat something and watch a movie and I'll take you home.

[phoenix_temple]

[She nods back. And then wonders what to say or do now.]

... Did you still want to watch a movie tonight?

Of course! We're not wasting the popcorn.

[phoenix_temple]

[She giggles at that and nods back to the living room.] I'll put it on and we can finish eating.

[That sounds like a plan. But before she can head out he tugs on her shoulders and then throws his arms around her. Too child and chicken to kiss her but damn it.]
